Radiohead Thom Yorke has revealed that the band will headline in the studio this winter to begin recording.

The band's studio some time in December and January 2012 in Oxford's new songs to work on the spending plan.

He told Rolling Stone, "We can get things together quite rapidly at the moment".

Already a new song Come To Your Senses, but the band's new material is expected to play when they hit the road in 2012.

Thom added, "It would be fun to have them ready when we go to play next year. I don't know how we would release them. It would be nice to make it all part of the flow and just enjoy it - not think about it too much".

He turned 43 on October 7 by the end of this year his new album Atoms For Peace is set to end.

He released the name of the session with the band's tour in 2010 looks likely to highlight the recording, who included Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and bassist Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

He said, "It's not good enough yet".

"Nigel and I were excited about it for so long, then we kind of lost our way. So we're taking some steps back. It's still in flux. We're waiting for the lightning bolt to strike."

The band's last report (September 30) announced on Friday in protest against plans to play a gig were forced to deny, told NME that the rumour "got out of control".

However, bassist Colin Greenwood said that he is sure of protesters angry over the financial system "understand".

He commented:
"Are we sympathetic to the protestors' cause? Of course. I understand people feeling frustrated with Wall Street, anyone would be, especially as those institutions were bailed out by taxpayers' money. I don't think that's a controversial thing to say".

Greenwood has also indicated that the Oxford group has more live shows, their latest album 'The King Of Limbs' is going to be in support, remarking that they had been having a "brilliant time" on their recent short US tour. The jaunt the band play two nights at Roseland Ballroom in New York and appear on the Colbert Report TV show has seen.

He added: "We've not had much of a chance to play 'The King Of Limbs' live. There was the Glastonbury performance, but with our own shows we can have the full production. We're getting together this week to talk about our plans for the rest of the year. We're having a brilliant time, so obviously we want to keep it going."

Radiohead have said that Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlist for the failure to rebuild "isn't a huge disappointment".

The band's current album 'The King Of Limbs' was their first since 2000 LP 'Kid A' not to receive a nomination. They have never won the prize.

Drummer Philip Selway admitted, "It would sound churlish to say we don't care. But when we were putting out 'The King Of Limbs' we knew it probably wasn't our most immediate record."

"It was important for us to make that record in that way but it wasn't put out with a view to getting Mercury nomination. So not being nominated isn't a huge disappointment really."

The sticksman also responded to recent comments made by Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis after he said it "may only have three years left".

Selway added, "That would be an enormous shame. It gets better year on year. I know there's a fallow year next year and one planned for the year after but I'd be surprised if that was it."

"Maybe it's like when they said they'd take Heinz salad cream off the market and then didn't, just to get people's interest up, or [BBC] 6 Music."

Radiohead's Thom Yorke is a DJ set at Glastonbury band on Friday (24 June) after the unannounced show with longtime producer Nigel Godrich, has posted details of execution.

On the band's official website Radiohead.com/deadairspace Yorke as posted a message.

The message reads: "Away from the celebrity media circus on the other side of the valley, the other Glastonbury happened. The one you aren't reading much about, the one they couldn't hang. The fun, chilled out and insane one. The one that couldn't give a flying toss who you are really. The one we went for."

Now comes "Staircase." It, like the "The Butcher" and "Supercollider," are better than anything on "The King of Limbs."
"Here's a new track called Staircase, taken from our upcoming 'From The Basement' session.

And no, you're not seeing double. The doppelganger drummers are myself and Clive Deamer. Clive has long been one of my favorite drummers and so I was really excited when he agreed to perform with us. Hope you like what we've all done."

British rockers Radiohead have denied rumours they are releasing a second album of material from The King Of Limbs recording sessions.

Band of the eighth studio album in February and hope fans think the sun was near Creep hitmakers (hit shelves until the wait was quick to follow.

Two new ways of rumors, Supercollider and the butcher after the online lake.

But guitarist Ed O'Brien says those songs are actually part of a special vinyl EP they made signs Britain's Record Store Day on Saturday, when visitors are encouraged to go out and buy music from independent shops.

O'Brien admits to submit new music from the band before hearing will have to wait a while because no other tracks will be ready for release.

He tells the BBC, "The Butcher is from the King Of Limbs sessions. Supercollider was recorded during that period and finished off after the album came out.

"There are (other) songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there's not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released now, or in the autumn, or something.

"When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh. It's kind of an evolutionary thing - only the fittest survive."

‘The King of Limbs’ would’ve almost certainly been the most anticipated record of the decade, had it not been for one minor detail: Nobody knew it existed until the week of its release. Whilst its predecessor, ‘In Rainbows’, arrived amidst a torrent of media debate, Radiohead’s eighth album has, by contrast, come out of nowhere, a bolt from the black-out and a day early at that. It doesn’t have to live up to the hype because, for once, there hasn’t been any.

Of course, this being Radiohead, expectations, even when denied time to run wild, are extremely high. This being Radiohead, they don’t disappoint.

The album’s cover art features a pair of spectral cartoon cephalopods and opening tack ‘Bloom continues the oceanic theme. The heart-in-your-ears thrill of new Radiohead material abounds as glitchy piano loops give way to Thom Yorke’s trademark falsetto, weaving its way around images of “giant turtle’s eyes” and “jellyfish that bite”. Harmonies and strings pile up in a way that’s simultaneously heavenly and familiar; Gene Kelly tap-dancing his way across the seabed to transcendental elevator music. Bassist, Colin Greenwood, so often the unsung hero, provides the track with much of its colour without drawing attention to himself.

‘Morning Magpie’ and ‘Little by Little’ marry the ‘Brothers Grimm’ claustrophobia of ‘Hail to the Thief’ with the electronic experimentation of ‘Kid A’. Back and forth guitar lines work hard to drown out the baying of digital wolves but, in both cases, the doors are eventually blown off their hinges.

Instrumental break, ‘Feral’, is composed of fragments that suggest, but never add up to, a gorgeous, unheard melody. It wears itself out in pursuit of its own tail before segueing into lead single ‘Lotus Flower’. However, it’s the following track, ‘Codex’ that provides the album’s true centre piece. Shifting piano chords, reminiscent of ‘Pyramid Song’, underpin a vocal which merges so perfectly with the accompanying horns that it’s as if Yorke’s windpipe has been transmogrified into brass, mid-utterance.

The last two songs are equally brilliant, especially the closer, ‘Separator’, which boasts a perfectly restrained set of shimmering guitar riffs, the only time on the record that the instrument really comes to the fore. Yorke sings “if you think this is over then you’re wrong” and it’s immediately evident that, whilst ‘The King of Limbs’ may use some familiar sounds, Radiohead have nowhere near exhausted their potential.

To raise money for Oxfam,fans had been granted permission by rockers of Radiohead to sell an unofficial recording of the band's Haiti charity concert.

To help rescue efforts in the earthquake-hit nation,The group appear on the stage in Los Angeles last January (10) and audience caught the show on camera.

The band allowed it to be released on the condition that proceeds went to Oxfam's Haiti emergency fund.

One of the dedicated fans, Inez Rogatsky, says, "Collecting the footage took a while - maybe two or three months. Fourteen separate video recordings doesn't mean that there were 14 people standing there with professional equipment. Some of the recordings are a few seconds shot on an iPhone. On some of the songs I wish we had better coverage than we did.

"(After contacting the band's manager) I heard back within two days that it was a great idea. He mentioned that the band wanted us to get donations for Haiti. I suggested a few organisations, and they decided to go with Oxfam."

The film, entitled 'Anyone Can Play Guitar', follows Radiohead's early days and the music scene in Oxford, were they formed.

'Creep' was a great failure on its initial release just like (album) 'Pablo Honey.'

According to their early management, it got to the stage where EMI wanted to drop them,'' promoter Jon Spira told MOJO.

He added: ''[But] a small radio station in San Francisco picked the single up on import and played it until it became the listeners' song of the year. They got a second chance.''

To create an image able to be seen from space around two-thousand volunteers gathered in Brighton in the UK and try to make an image hat depicted the 11th Century Viking King Canute who futilely attempted to control the oceans according to legend.

Yorke's design was one of many from countries all around the world designed to send a message about climate change to politicians attending a UN Convention in Mexico.

PHILIP SELWAY RADIOHEAD sticksman began to question his talent while recording his solo debut because he struggled to come up with drum parts for his songs.
From Radiohead the rocker is branching away and to release his first solo effort but admits he can't take full credit for his percussion work because he was forced to rely on his collaborator, Wilco's Glenn Kotche, to help him feel the beat.
He tells Reuters, "My first attempts at singing didn't marry up with what I thought I was doing. There was a lot of trial and error, finding something that was musical and conversational at the same time.
"Also, when I was writing the tunes, I didn't hear drum parts. It was a bit worrying; as a drummer it made me question my credentials 'Why can't I think of drum parts?!'
"But Glenn had ideas, and that freed me up to concentrate on the songwriting side of things."
Selway's Familial album will hit shelves later this month (Aug10).

"It took four years of trial and error to find out the stretches I could make. It's a bit of a leap of faith."Selway will follow the release of Familial with a short British tour. He will act as the main support for Wilco."I am one of the more shadowy figures in Radiohead which is a great place to be," Selway adds. "As a drummer in a five piece, you can easily get bound up in this rather distasteful shout for attention but, in some ways, a drummer is there to do a job and doesn't actually need to speak."

Currently, Phil Selway from Radiohead confirmed that their fresh album is still in the pipeline and songs are yet to be written. About his sorrowful folk album called Familial he also spoke largely. On August 31 the album is supposed to be out. He also says that his role in the band is a little shadowy and a little obscure.
His album promises to be an interesting stroll of Nick Drake kind folk tunes. The album would also have a host of guest spots filled by the likes of Lisa Germano and Wilco’s Glenn Kotche. Pat Sansone would also be one of the artists, who would appear a guest on the album. Reportedly, it’s been three years since the band ever released an album. Their last release was in 2007, with an album called In Rainbows. In Abingdon the band that was formed, Oxfordshire is expected to have a release as soon as they complete writing the songs.

Glastonbury festival on Friday. The two were introduced to the crowd as "the biggest surprise of the weekend."The performance took place on the stage fest's Park, which is off the main area and usually considered a venue for newer bands. The set started with some of Yorke's solo stuff, but soon the two provided some Radiohead songs as well. The set included such tunes as "Pyramid Song" and "Karma Police."Yorke and Greenwood's performance was billed as simply "special guests," though festival arrangers Michael Eavis gave them credit as "two superstars" when they were introduced. In previous years, Jack White's the Dead Weather and Franz Ferdinand have been some of the other Glastonbury surprise guests.

When it was first announced that Thom Yorke would be coming to this year's Coachella, he was billed as a solo act but his name was accompanied by a set of question marks -- "Thom Yorke ????." The mysterious nomenclature revealed that Yorke obviously wouldn't be performing with Radiohead but it suggested something exciting all the same.
As was revealed in February, the once-questionable project has since been named Atoms for Peace and its lineup includes Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Nigel Godrich, Mauro Refosco and Joey Waronker. The group has yet to offer an album, video or even a single -- in fact, there are no official releases whatsoever -- and they've only really played a handful of gigs as a band. It doesn't matter. At Coachella -- by far their largest gig to date -- fans by the numbers seemed to have the same kind of religious experience that Radiohead concerts are known for inducing.
Following the template from their recent theater workouts, the first portion of the set showcased Yorke's 2006 solo album, 'the Eraser,' in its entirety. Yorke confessed to the audience early on that this would be the plan of attack and, midway through, he dedicated the song 'Atoms for Peace' to Pavement without explanation. Clearing the stage at the conclusion of the 'Eraser' song cycle had the unintended effect of partially clearing the audience -- many mistakingly thought the set was pretty much over and wanted to stake out a place for Gorillaz, who were up next on the adjacent main stage.
Too bad -- those fans missed Yorke truly performing solo, taking to an acoustic guitar and an upright piano, respectively, for 'Airbag' and 'Everything in its Right Place.' Literally the only act that could follow Atoms for Peace was Gorillaz because, otherwise, it would've been "thank you and goodnight" for 75,000 satisfied music fans.

Dread seems to permeate the air these days. Inside the Berkeley bubble, the specter of midterms, papers, pending graduation, divestment debates and general collegiate stress lurks in every conceivable corner of campus. On a larger scale, we're just starting to fully realize how screwed we are over issues like climate change, nuclear weapons and the shifting global economy. Let the collective nail biting and nose bridge pinching begin.
Dread loomed large at the Oakland Fox on Thursday night. Thom Yorke's new band Atoms for Peace headlined the night, with Flying Lotus opening. Both acts conjured divergent yet complementary types of aural paranoia.
Working off the principle that nature abhors a vacuum, Flying Lotus filled his set with dense, claustrophobic creations as moody as they were immediate. His mixing board must have had all its settings turned up to 11-a frontal onslaught of noise was hurled at the audience consistently. The crushing, pulsating bass tumbled out of the suspended PA speakers like some collapsing building in a sonic earthquake. Crooked drum patterns, blaring synths, odd blips and splintered strings floated between the gaps in this low-end vibration, producing herky-jerky, powerfully paranoia-inducing tunes that were like a lucid dream slowly morphing into an inescapable nightmare.
Flying Lotus was the perfect opener, even though a guy on a laptop might seem like an anachronistic introduction to such a primal band. Comparisons to Radiohead may be perfunctory when it comes to Atoms for Peace, but the contrast really illuminates Yorke's new direction with this group. Lately, Radiohead have been all about intangibility; there's a reason they called their last album In Rainbows. In contrast, at the Oakland Fox Yorke sang the line "with your fingers you can touch me," a lyric from "Black Swan." Atoms for Peace's performance was all about physicality.
But rather than celebrating corporeality, they unabashedly displayed all the fears and anxieties wrapped up within the body. The percussion had a lot to do with this. The drums (expertly played by duo Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco) dominated the mix. The vocals, Nigel Godrich's buzzy synths, Yorke's wiry guitars and bassist Flea's one-off melodica solo barely emerged from the propulsive rubble. Though they tended to drown other sounds out, the drums were effective, producing a post-apocalyptic rumbling. Many renditions, like the funky version of "Paperbag Writer," were downright carnal. The heavy percussion got Yorke to bust out his signature disturbing dance moves, and the very extroverted bassist Flea, of Red Hot Chili Pepper fame, was even more locomotive than usual. The crowd responded, swaying, nodding and grooving to the dark, controlling music.
The only respite from this tribal bombardment came during the encore. Yorke emerged from his backstage bomb shelter after the nuclear fallout of Atoms for Peace's set to play a few oddly pretty "works in progress" on solo piano, as well as an acoustic "Airbag." Otherwise, the night was relentlessly driven by ominous yet earthy beats.
Flying Lotus's and Atoms for Peace's music acknowledged anxiety, but it never let itself become consumed by it. It fought back against the impending doom it invoked. Yorke and company may have acknowledged that all of "this is fucked up" (to quote "Black Swan" again), but they didn't nihilistically accept defeat. Sure, we might be increasingly constricted by our fates, but that doesn't mean we can't squirm back in resistance to the tightening hold. We might even be able to loosen the grip.

Radiohead, a horse named after everyone’s favourite indie heroes, has been given odds of 20/1 to win The Kentucky Derby.
Rick Dutrow Jr, the horse’s trainer, has even admitted that the three year old chestnut colt has assumed the band’s persona. "He'll try to take a chance and bite you", he said.
Radiohead’s jockey for the flagship race has yet to be confirmed and wild speculation with no truthful basis whatsoever suggests that Thom Yorke could be mounting the steed on May 1.
Journalists with information wide of the mark are also reporting that Radiohead, the horse, has begun working on an album which he plans to give away as a free download in return for users dropping a donation in his horse box.

The band raised more than 500,000 dollars in their two hour performance at the Henry Fonda Theatre, Los Angeles. Kasabian have denied Noel Gallagher is joining the band following his split from Oasis.
Lead singer Tom Meighan said: "I'd like him to but he's not going to - he's just quit his band, he's putting music aside for a bit."
However, he said if Noel wanted to join them for a concert he would be more than welcome.
"If Noel wants to come on stage with us he can. I love Noel and I love Liam, and if Noel wants to play then I'm sure he'll come and play," Tom said.
And the Kasabian frontman told how he is mourning the loss of Oasis, saying: "They're heroes, I lost my heroes."
Kasabian were at the Q Awards where they picked up Best Album for West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, and Meighan thinks it has been a long time coming.
He said: "We're the best, the best of the best. I'm happy we won because we deserve it. It's about time we won something like this, we've been waiting a long time."
And the Leicester born singer ruled out ever releasing an album over the internet for free.
"Never, over my dead body. Would you go into a restaurant and eat for free? Would you go into a garage and drive away in a car for free?.

Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien has revealed that the band is recording a new album that will be released in 2010. Previously hinted Thom Yorke that they might be growing tired of the album format, but a summer spent in the studio has obviously caused him to change his mind. O'Brien has said in an interview with NME that they would "definitely" be releasing an album next year.

“We were misquoted,” O’Brien said of Yorke’s comments, before adding, “WE WILL BE MAKING AN ALBUM!” The guitarist must have welcomed a opportunity to talk about music again after his current spat with Lily Allen. It’s not yet known how the album will be released, but he suggests that Radiohead still has a lot of time for physical formats.

“We love the artwork; that’s actually important, the physicality,” he said. “And we all like vinyl. That’s not going to go away. I still like CDs as well. I got the Speech Debelle CD the other day I nearly downloaded it from iTunes but I thought, ‘No. I want the physical thing.’”

Radiohead's Yorke forms side band, sets gigs

LONDON (Billboard) – Radiohead's Thom Yorke has formed a live band and recruited Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea to the lineup, with two Los Angeles gigs confirmed for the week of October 5.
The band will also include Radiohead produce Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker, who has toured and recorded with REM, among others, and Mauro Refosco of New York band Forro in the Dark.
The October 4 and 5 shows at the 1,970-capacity Orpheum Theater will feature material from Yorke's solo set "The Eraser" and new songs.
Two songs "The Hollow Earth" and "FeelingPulledApartbyHorses" were released September 21 as a limited edition 12 inch vinyl single via the Radiohead Web site. The tracks will also be delivered as a free download, and are set to be made available separately as a paid download in October.
Yorke's solo set at the U.K. Latitude festival in July included the new song "The Present Tense." Another new song, "Hearing Damage," will appear on Atlantic's "New Moon" soundtrack, due October 20.
"In the past couple of weeks I've been getting a band together for fun to play the eraser stuff live and the new songs etc. ... to see if it could work!" Yorke said in a post at the Radiohead Web site.
The post also featured a photo of the unnamed pair and a link to buy tickets via Ticketmaster.
"We don't actual have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ... well ... we haven't got that much material yet!" Yorke added. "But come and check it out if you are in the area."

And according to NME, he's recently hard at work on that solo album. IT HAS BECOME a ritual: I scan the buzzing black, white, and gold sea that is pre-concert Symphony Hall as usual, mine is one of maybe five vernal faces in sight. Then I turn to my septuagenarian neighbor and ask, “How long have you been a BSO fan?’’ The answer is almost constant, “Since I was young!’’ I look around again and wince.I am 19, a musician, and one of Boston’s 250,000 college students. I absorb great music indiscriminately: on my iPod, Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro’’ cheerfully mingles its refulgence with Animal Collective’s “Feels’’ and Radiohead’s “Kid A’’ somberly holds forth with Messiaen’s “Quatuor.’’I know I’m not the only young musical omnivore around, but something odd is happening here. The Boston Symphony Orchestra, surely one of the world’s most exciting orchestras, also offers one of the world’s greatest student discounts. The $25 College Card guarantees access to 15 BSO concerts plus, cardholders receive a text message whenever extra tickets are available. By the end of the season, it covers almost 30 concerts less than a dollar a night to sit in seats that normally cost $80. A season’s pass to the BSO costs college kids about one-third the price of a decent seat at a DMB show. So why isn’t Symphony Hall overflowing with 18 to 22 year olds every night?The answer isn’t “These kids are off with their Twitter and their ‘NYC Prep.’ ’’ Many of my peers are sensitive, passionate listeners (just stop by a Grizzly Bear or St. Vincent concert), and many of us listen to music that demands the same spiritual engagement and intellectual openness that Brahms and Adams do. The leap from Deerhoof to Stravinsky is miniscule when classical music is presented the right way; one indie rock expert friend of mine became a bona fide opera nut after I insisted he experience Verdi’s “Otello’’ and I didn’t present it as an exotic excursion into high culture. I presented it as one of the richest manifestations of love and torment we have as humans. Just like “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.’’But most of my peers have never been forcefully urged to treat classical music (whatever that term means) as an confidant, vital experience. I never see, say, a pair of college age friends at Boston Lyric Opera on a Friday night only the occasional loner, the occasional family with a bored teen in tow.Hmm. I thought live music was a social activity. On this front, the BSO and other major arrangement are not blameless. The College Card should be sharply advertised at every area school: now, it’s hard to find even on the BSO website. Also, the atmosphere at Boston concerts might strike a first timer as stuffy: We do not have a venue like New York’s Le Poisson Rouge, which blends the best of classical, indie, and jazz with appropriate ease.But ultimately, fellow students, it’s up to us. Time to occupy the concert hall. Classical concerts need not be exercises in cough stifling. Audience participation didn’t start in 1962 a knowledgeable, demanding audience has been the sustaining force of every culture with music at its heart, from fin-de-siecle Vienna to New Orleans in the 1920s.So don’t treat classical music as a once-a-year excuse to dress up and get a nice dinner. It is music. It’s meant to be loved by the young, hormone crazed masses, loved the very same way we love Radiohead and the Arcade Fire. It should lie at the center of everyday life, spark our wildest conversations and profoundest thoughts, be the soundtrack to falling in love. There’s a galaxy of music in our city that wants our love, and I know we’ve got it in us.

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke will release two new songs in September on limited connection 12". The Hollow Earth and FeelingPulledApartbyHorses are to be released under Yorke's own name, although there are signs that he is regarding a new moniker or even a new backing band for his solo project.
"Dear Sir or Madam," Yorke wrote yesterday on the official Radiohead blog. "This is to inform you of the release of two more bits of work shortly ... Both were created by Nigel Godrich as ever. And mastered by Bob Ludwig. They are being put out on 12" with shredded sleeve by Stanley (Donwood) and (myself)."
Radiohead and Yorke have been busy these last few weeks. Largely dormant since 2007's In Rainbows, the band released a tribute to first world war veteran Harry Patch at the start of August. These Are My Twisted Words, another new track, was posted to their website just weeks later. Yorke has also recorded a cover of All for the Best, primitively by US band Miracle Legion, which will appear on a Miracle Legion tribute album and limited edition 7" later this month.
Both FeelingPulledApartbyHorses and The Hollow Earth have been maturation in Radiohead vaults for some time. The former, Yorke wrote, is a "radical rework of an old tune" from 2001, written and performed with Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood. The "bass menace" of The Hollow Earth was, meanwhile, apprenticed for Yorke's 2006 solo album, The Eraser, "but wanted a little more time".
The forthcoming 12" will be released in shops and at Radiohead's online store on 21 September. According to a source at Canadian distributor Sonic Unyon, there many be as few as 4,000 copies available in Europe (North America will receive another 4,000). Digital versions of the tracks will go on sale on 6 October.
Billboard reports that Yorke is considering touring this material later in the year. Rather than play solo, he may even perform with a band and it won't needfully be Radiohead. "These days it's all getting kind of blurry," Yorke wrote. The singer is also resultedly considering new names for his solo project.
He sais, "Thomosexual," suggested Adam Buxton in an interview with Yorke, "(or) the Duke of Yorke." Yorke preferred T.Homme. "(It's) kind of sophisticated,"

7. World Bog Snorkelling championships, Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales, Monday, race starts 11am: 200 competitors, some in fancy dress, battle it out to be the fastest across a muddy trench.

8. Get Loaded in the Park, London, Sunday: 40,000 gather on Clapham Common to see Orbital and Royksopp top the bill.

9. Scrum on the Beach, Newquay, Saturday and Sunday, 12-11pm: Meet England rugby players and play beach rugby.

10. Magician and comedian Jerry Sadowitz is at the Playhouse in Edinburgh on Saturday night.

11. Battle of Marston Moor, York, Sunday - Monday: Thousands are expected for the biggest re-enactment of the year, the First English Civil War festival.

12. Or stay at home and watch Wuthering Heights on ITV 1 on Sunday and Monday at 9pm, a two part Peter Bowker adaptation of the Emily Brontë novel.13. You could go to the cinema, with Pedro Almodovar's Broken Embraces and Judd Apatow's Funny People opening this weekend.

Radiohead EP mystery solved a bit! Sort of! Maybe!

This week the world has been a-flutter with the news that Radiohead might be releasing new material on Monday, August 17 after a new song seemed to appear online.

Now, eagle-eyed observers have noticed that elements of the file and code attached to the song featured the words "wall" and "of" and "ice", and that indeed the combination of the three appeared in a mysterious poem that accomanpanied the track on back-of-the-internet-lorry site what.cd. You can find all the Wall of Ice stuff hidden in the ASCII code here.

If you therefore assume that Radiohead follow the same model as they did with In Rainbows – ie they create a website based on the title of the release – you get www.wallofice.com. And that leads straight to the WASTE shop. In other words, it looks very much like the rumours are true: there’s an EP coming with that title and Radiohead’s site is all set up to receive the orders via that site.

It would also be a massive raspberry to EMI, who are reissuing a load more Radiohead back catalogue to feed Guy Hands' coffers in a few weeks, not to mention being entirely in tune with Thom Yorke's hints that the band are no longer interested in going down the path of releasing full-length albums.

Radiohead created quite a stir with its fill-in-the-blank, pay-what-you-want price tag on In Rainbows. Now the band's manager, Brian Message, has launched a new record label, Polyphonic, which promises to feature similarly creative distributions.

The label is a result of a collaboration of Message's company, ATC Music, MAMA Group and management firm Nettwerk, and aims to provide inventive methods of release for both new and established artists to keep them from turning to more traditional labels. Polyphonic hopes to provide artists with 50 percent of their profits, and their shares will increase as music's success does."We will do whatever is most effective to get an artist noticed," said Adam Driscoll, the co-CEO of MAMA Group, which provided most of the initial $20 million funding for the project. "Giving an album away for free may get one million people listening to a new artist."

Michael Stipe, Thom Yorke and Frank Black record tribute album for Mark Mulcahy

Radiohead's Thom Yorke, REM's Michael Stipe and Pixies' Frank Black have contributed to a covers album for Miracle Legion and Polaris frontman Mark Mulcahy.

Ciao My Shining Star - The Songs Of Mark Mulcahy, is released on September 14 in the UK and 29 in the US.

The 21-track album also features the likes of Ben Kweller, Juliana Hatfield and Mercury Rev. In addition, a further 20 tracks by acts including A.C. Newman and Buffalo Tom will be released digitally

Since forming the Rough Trade-signed Miracle Legion in 1984, Mulcahy has supported the likes of Oasis, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.

The covers album has been recorded in response to the death of his wife Melissa, who died suddenly in 2008.

It is hoped that the funds raised from it will help Mulcahy to carry on making music, and support his three-year-old twin daughters.

Two concerts, in London and New York, will coincide with the release of the album, although exact details are yet to be announced.

Radiohead are an English alternative rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The band is consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, beats), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboard, other instruments), Ed O’Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion).

Radiohead launched their first single, “Creep,” in 1992. The song was originally unsuccessful, but it became a universal hit several months after the launching of their debut album, Pablo Honey (1993). Radiohead’s fame rose in the United Kingdom with the launching of their second album, The Bends (1995). The band’s textured guitar parts and Yorke’s falsetto singing were lovingly received by critics and fans. Radiohead’s third album, OK Computer (1997), propelled them to greater international fame. Featuring an expansive sound and themes of modern alienation, OK Computer has often been highly praised as a landmark record of the 1990s.

Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) noticeable a change in the band’s musical style. Radiohead included tentative electronic music, Krautrock, post-punk and jazz influences into their songs, dividing fans and critics, but they stay on popular. Hail to the Thief (2003), a mix of guitar-driven rock, electronics and lyrics stirred by headlines, was the band’s final album for their major record label, EMI.
